Warvictims as we know them delivers heavy and brutal d-beat, and this split is certainly no exception. What probably doesn’t come as a surprise is that Disclose come to mind while digesting these three tracks of napalm-drenched, blood-submerged, nuclear war-driven crustcore. Absolutely brutal and arse-shredding, definitely up there with the great ones; Besthöven, Warcollapse etc. Dark, raging riffs, excellent dual vocals, pummeling drums and a wicked sound – everything you could ever ask for.
Except for a few MP3s on Tortyr’s myspace site this is my first experience, which makes it my first actual Tortyr experience. These guys definitely differ quite a lot from their vinyl mates Warvictims. But what’s no difference is the brutality; ‘cause there’s plenty of it. Energetic-as-hell crustcore making me wanna get up and thrash my apartment to pieces in a one-man moshpit rampage. Illdåd and Atomvinter pops up, but when Fy faan vad jag hatar dig sets in it takes a whole new turn, and I find myself in a metallic flirt with From Ashes Rise and the likes. If these three tracks are representative of Tortyr’s general sound and quality I hope the next record is just around the corner.
