This CD is a promo containing four songs from their upcoming fullength, intro, outro and a Samhain cover as a bonus. Again, Scarecrow starts off with a truly haunting intro, leaving you thinking this should be black metal. But it’s not; it’s straight up punkrock! Dead and Happy sets off and we get served a really energetic bit of hardcore-inspired punk with powerful back ups. Towards the end you’ll also be hearing some really punishing drumming, a bit more metallic than otherwise. The vocals are rough, like after a bottle of Finlandia, and it fits just perfectly to the raw music, energetic riffing and pounding drums. And it’s full of hardcorish back ups and choruses, adding even more energy to it all.
I’d say these guys are pretty morbid, considering all the songs from upcoming album Deadcrow (due 2006) has the word “dead” in it. Take punk, add a touch of metal and a dose of hardcore, and you’ve got a perfect blend for moshing. Music that just forces your body to rock along. There’s no doubt about it - Scarecrow really rocks!
