This is the debut by Swedish Zombie Destr�ktion, a self-produced demo/CD of high quality death metal mangling. Pro-printed cover, but the CD is a pro-CD-R, so I�m not really sure what to call it, but demo/CD will have to do. The band history is not the most exciting one. It�s been put on hold several times due to Micke and Markus� involvement in another project a while ago, Thomas went to China for a semester etc. And after this album Zombie Destr�ktion is yet again put in hold as they�re starting up a rock band instead. So I�m not really sure how dead-serious they are about this project.
Nonetheless I�m really liking this. Heavy-as-shit riffing, mangling drums and harsh, gurgling growls commanding forth forces of zombies, mummies, ninjas and pirates, leaving a trail of spleens in their path. And the humoristic, unorthodox lyrics is a huge selling point in my book, but for the top-notch lyrics to really take effect you need talented musicians as well. And that�s what you get! All instruments has a certain level of technicality to their output here, and all instruments are handled with excellence. So you get technical, non-linear (in the sense of being quite un-conventional, and not just harvesting the successful crops already sowed), brutal and kick-ass death metal. It reminds me a bit of Relentless, a Swedish death metal band that certainly hasn�t received its well deserved share of attention, but I really hope Zombie Destr�ktion will. They�re definitely on to something here, and I could go on forever mentioning every little thing about this album that makes it stand out, but I won�t. Know this; if you�re a fan of death metal you�re obliged to look this album up!
