Another promotional compilation from one of Sweden’s quality crust labels, and as usual it carries some tracks from the releases during the year gone by. What’s interesting here is that I’ve already reviewed all presented releases except one; End of All’s The art of decadence LP. But I own the CD-version of the album, and I’ve listened to it many times as I consider it to be one of last year’s best releases – period!
And yeah, Sista vilan presented here is a killer song that could be kept on repeat for a while without getting dull. Heavier and more brutal crust filled with such anxiety (without even touching the oh-so-popular neocrust mark) is hard to come by. But the cd-r also contains two tracks from the Operation discography that finally found its way into the light of day. If you by some chance haven’t heard of the band before I can tell you it’s some of the most violent and uncompromising radical left-wing hardcorepunk ever created – anarchopunk deluxe, to be honest. And Dodeskaden does a bit of the same thing, albeit much more d-beat based and with less convincing, but still worth checking out if you’re a fan of the genre.
It was a long time ago now that I listened to the Passiv Dödshjälp demo that this track was taken from, but it’s apparently an unmastered version of the tune. Can’t say I sense any big difference, but then again it’s been a while now. The band lingers somewhere in between metallic crust á la Skitsystem and hardcore. Second to none we have a track off of M:40’s best release; the Industrilandskap 7”. I tell ya, if you’ve liked anything these lads have done before I can guarantee you’ll love this. More rage, more attitude, more of everything.
2008 might’ve been one of Halvfabrikat’s best years so far, but with new material from End of All and Protestera on the way, along with recently released M:40 and Anatomi-71 records 2009 will probably top it.
