Ok, I really don’t get why I would receive this demo. I mean, this is clearly not a rock n roll zine, but I guess it was worth a shot for the band. Unfortunately it didn’t pan out very well as this doesn’t appeal to me even the slightest. In fact I find it quite annoying, just like I do with most rock.
The first track, Drink with us, I can take as it has some Motörhead grooves, but as soon as the second track Other pie kicks in I start to hate the band for forcing me to listen to this utter crap. To me it sounds like just every other band of the same variant I’ve ever heard, it doesn’t stand out even the slightest. Sure, the riffing might be somewhat catchy at times, the groove imminent and it even carries some minor hardcorepunk hints on a couple of occasions, but the overall approach is far from unique. So it doesn’t appeal to me at all, I just don’t get this. King is dead is almost a ballad of sorts with mellow, clean vocals, an acoustic guitar and soft drum beats. It doesn’t sound all that exciting to me, and the three minute long guitar solo is just plain redundant (and seriously annoying) in my book. Voice behind has a Kiss-esque guitar line, but since I’ve never liked that band it still doesn’t do it for me.
I don’t know, I really can’t judge this. It does absolutely nothing for me musically, but I guess they’re competent enough in what they do, in all the music’s simplicity. Far from unique, not very exciting and overall a lack of identity, albeit I guess somewhat diverse in material.
