Here we have the tape version of Perisynti’s debut album on Northern Silence Productions. I’ve never heard the band before, and so all I knew was to expect black metal. And what we have here is harsh black, keeping it both melodic and raw, and with a big-ass load of pagan vibes.
The ritualistic drumming for Julistus opens up a fantasy world where Vikings rule the north and are feared by clergymen all over the world. And this heathen feeling continues on to the rest of the tracks. The melodic and harsh riffing keeps it paganized and the distorted vocals keeps it old school. The tempo goes from a slow, ritualistic pace to fairly fast paced, and it’s all-good.
I really like this stuff, and it makes me think a lot of Burzum, but also of older Dissection at times. Bloody awesome!
