To tell you the truth I haven’t really kept a close eye on Neuropathia since I received the Graveyard cowboys album, and this is the first record since that I’ve actually fully listened to. So I’m surprised-as-hell how they’ve changed over the years. Gone is the gore, and left is pure grind.
Well, that’s not the entire truth, I suppose. The sound is similar to that of Regurgitate, and the hefty guitar production to that of Nasum. It is really a heavy and full sound, where the riffing is given space to explode, as well as the fast blasting. But on top of this is the high-pitch screams, that occasionally turns into growls. And within this grindcore there’s so much rock you can’t believe it, and at times it sounds a lot like Genocide SS on speed; which means rocking and groovy, but without leaving the speed behind. And suddenly they sound like Skitsystem amped up to grindcore.
But it never becomes a mess, and it flows naturally throughout the album. And that is the sign of talented musicians (except of course the skillful handling of the instruments), to take goregrind, grindcore, rock n roll and crust, and turning it into a natural product of blasting. Satan owns your stereo not only offers hilarious artwork, but also great music with lots of hooks and variety. The only thing disrupting the flow of the album is the 4:40 long ambient crap called Brain damage. I really don’t get the need for that track, so I usually just skip it. But that’s also the only thing I feel the need for skipping, the rest of the album is just jam-packed with groove, grind and energy.
