A full onslaught of Napalm Death adoring grindcore, especially that essential Scum era. Needful Things definitely dont re-invent the wheel, but damn what a freaking blast it is.
The production presents a full and heavy wall of sound, capable of sounding clean and brutal, whilst letting the strings strike you down like a thunderstorm. And while this heavy rumbling flirt in both metal and hardcore directions its really true to the core of early grindcore (just like it was back then when Scum was released). Some Swedish influences la Nasum might be detected, but that could just as well be the heavy Napalm Death influence Nasum had that nudges me in the wrong direction. And why not even name-drop Repulsion while were at it, just for that rougher edge.
Anyway, really killer old school grindcore with grinding drums, growling and screaming vocals, blasting drums and heavy breakdowns, presented in a full sound. Definitely nothing wrong about this album; a true gem for the grind fan.
