This is quite an unusual project. Necro Nihilist Nausea have here unleashed a metal demo, created entirely out of electronic measures (except the vocals, I suppose).
I say metal, ‘cause it has that same heaviness and brutality as death metal, but what it basically is, is noise. Tons of samples are used to create what would normally be done with guitars by a conventional band. And it actually works. I mean, there’s no riffing to devour, and I suppose that without that is loses what actually makes a metal band. But they really make it work with heavy noise instead. And when adding the programmed drums it actually sounds like a death metal/goregrind demo. However there are no growls or screams, but some kind of weird semi-digital vocals that I can’t really explain what it sounds like.
It’s new to me, and sounds unlike anything I’ve heard before. But I’m not too keen on digital music, and sometimes it just sounds way too electronic. It never gets close to anything techno-like, but still a tad too much. But I suppose a metalhead with a love for noise might get a kick.
