This American one-man band defines its music as viking black metal, which seems a bit odd. American Vikings? Well, I suppose its the music that sounds like other bands in the viking metal genre, and lyrics about Nordic, not American, Vikings.
Battle drums encouraging you to promptly march off to war. The opening track, Black realm, starts off great, but when the acoustic guitar sets in it sounds like a newbie is handling it. Terrible! But the demo gets better. Fast, melodic black metal with hoarse black metal screams. The vocals sounds a bit annoying during some of the tunes, but the tunes are from different recording sessions so I suppose it could be just sound related. Well, my guess is that its from different sessions since the sound quality varies from track to track. And while on the subject of sound quality I gotta say it sucks most of the time. The strings are just screechy, the drumming is more of a distant banging and the vocals sounds recorded using a regular built-in PC mic. Music wise the tunes are pretty ok most of the time, but in all honesty its a tad difficult to really say. The sound is too weak to really hear if the songs are good or not. I definitely like Black realm (except for the acoustic guitar) and the intro to Rise of the new dawn, and the growls that are used from time to time adds a brutal edge to it. Hopefully hell record something new and with a lot better sound quality.
