I have to be completely honest here� I�m a bit skeptical about this album. I hate to say it, but no matter what great guys they might be I have to be honest. And the thing that turns me into a skeptic are the vocals. Two main vocalists, and both a bit annoying in the long run. I have absolutely no problem with screechy, gnarly screaming, but all the time? It would be a whole lot easier to digest this if one of the lads would growl just a little, go for some depth in his voice. But other than that this album�s great!
Hardcore-ized crustcore, very hardcore-ized. Or maybe I should say metalcore-ized, �cause it has its share of metal as well. Pounding and powerful tunes with that mosh-friendly atmosphere that you can only find in a really killer hardcore album. The parts of pure drum hammering and bass rambling are golden, the tunes that steps out of the mold and dare to really venture off (like Your dark eyes and V�ggarna omkring dig) really shows their versatility. But my mind keeps going back to think of Totalt J�vla M�rker, and to tell you the truth said band started to suck major arse as soon as they started releasing fullengths. And so in my book it�s not a great comparison. But other than the songs that really stand out it can also be a bit monotonous�
I guess it�s a fair bet to say I�m having problems deciding whether or not to really like or dislike Historiens svarta vingslag. Some bits are really killer that would probably be terrific for a night of violent (but friendly, of course) moshing, but for some I miss the intensity to really make me wanna do so. And for crying out loud, please include some backup screaming that aren�t as bright, �cause that would really give it a tougher and brutal output. On the brightside the sound is pretty damn decent and the booklet looks great.
