I thought this would be a fullength, well it is, bust just not in the way I had imagined. This LP (soon to be out on CD as well) contains nine new tracks plus the two 7”s Roffarens Marknad and Vidrig Maskinell Framfart as well as two tracks to be released on their split with Pisschrïst. So what we have here are 10 new (new in the definition that I hadn’t heard them before) tracks and 12 that I’ve already reviewed. Too bad, ‘cause I was really looking forward to a full onslaught of new Kvoteringen material. Some of you might notice that 10 plus 12 only equals 22, and the album’s got 23 tracks. Well, Onda Planer Smids is included twice but from different recordings and with different vocalists.
When I first heard the new exclusive tracks I came to the conclusion that it’s way better than the old stuff. I especially like the fuller sound, though it’s still dirty and raw so you old school crust freaks won’t have anything to complain about, but also the vocals. Råttan’s left the band and the new vocalist’s called Calle. Their vocal styles are fairly similar, meaning just plain and simple pissed off screaming, but for some reason I prefer Calle. Musically they’re still on the same path of Swedish old school raw punk mangling in the vein of tons of great acts. I don’t really feel like name-dropping this time around, ‘cause I feel that the music on Bister Prognos can stand for itself. But let’s just say that these guys know how to play fierce hardcore and compose bitter lyrics, and they’re definitely no beginners.
The first nine tracks, which are the new ones, are without a doubt the best stuff these guys have offered us so far. And since the songs from the two 7”s have been spinning a whole lot over here in the past it doesn’t really do anything for me this time around. I do however become extremely curious when Protesteld sets in, since it sends out powerful Driller Killer vibes. And that, my friends, makes me long for the upcoming splits…
