The dark and sinister sound of the opening track is uncanny. It has a really creepy feeling to it. Sounds and noises that’ll make you twitch are mixed with a keyboard, and the outcome is a soundtrack to any horror movie. The ambience ends and the black metal sets in. But don’t think for a second that the sinister sound is over; it’s still crawling with horror. Monotonous, yet melodic, with a keyboard to add to the melody, and a vocalist whose screaming is just a whisper in the background. Förtvivlan… Rain. The sound of rain pouring and lightning striking. The keyboard, which sounds like it’s taken directly from a horror film from the 40ies (i.e. it sounds like an organ), starts playing. I don’t need to tell you that it all sounds extremely haunting, do I?
The ambience is by far some of the best stuff I’ve heard, and the black metal combined with it creates a powerful mix – raw and truly haunting!
