Kalashnikov - Vart är vi på väg? CD-R
Genre: Crustcore Origin: Sweden Released: 2003 Website: Kalashnikov Label: - Uploaded: - I saw this band live at the Crustfest ´03, and I enjoyed the really brutal growled vocals accompanied by the quite fierce crust. I also had a little chat with the vocalist and one of the other guys (can't remember who) afterwards. Apparently the band, excluding the vocalist, didn't like the growling. And to be honest it kind of feels like the growls has been repressed on this demo. I can tell that it's not even close to as brutal as this guy is capable of. In my opinion they should let this guy go free, if he would just growl for real then this would kick a whole lotta more arse! They use some fairly cool back up screams that would accompany growl really well. But ok, 'nuf with the vocals... I actually really like this stuff. It's pretty fierce and fairly heavy crust. There's something there that makes me think of Warcollapse, though way more basic. I think this was recorded in a bunch of different sessions, 'cause the sound keeps changing as the tracks go by. But the sound quality is always quite terrible, which is a real downer. A real studio, a touch more metal, more growling and you would have the new heirs to the throne sadly left by Warcollapse. I mean, this could really, really kick some major butt, just given some time to develop. But I also have to give a big salute to them for the creation of track eight, Baksmälla. That song really captures the feeling of suffering from a major baksmälla (hangover for you non-Swedes). One of the meanest basses ever, slow riffs and some excellent vocals. The slow, almost half spoken, vocals really add to the feeling. This, accompanied by some vicious back up screaming, going baksmälla in the background, is just excellent. And another thing - that's some mean guitar solo! Tracklist: 1. Vart är vi på väg? 2. Religion 3. Skendemokrati 4. Poliser 5. Vem bryr sig? 6. Ingen framtid 7. Sanningens skrik (ljug) 8. Baksmälla |
