Is there a crazier band than Inhumate to be found out there? I seriously doubt it! This crazy ass vocalist sure knows how to rock! But I'll give you the full details on his insanity later on in the review.
All it takes is a few seconds of introduction before the maniacal grinding sets off. Through the entire CD I keep thinking that the drummer will lose control, 'cause this is crazy. I can't find any other words to describe the drumming other than fast and crazy. It sounds like it's gonna get out of hand at any second. Something you just have to hear to understand. Guitar riffs are very metallic at the same time as it reminds me of some punk groups. At one time I got a Discharge-vibe in the riffing. The bass should be a little more distinguishable. Sure it's there, but it's not given enough space, I think. They have some really cool bass work going on sometimes, like in the slow part of For Lust. And then we have got the vocals. It's rabid screaming, murderous growling and gory grunts. Like a mob of crazed bears and badgers coming right for you. Best song on here is by far the first one - No Answer, where the vocals are given their full share of space to truly give you the full amount of insanity.
Track 16 has a lot of live songs from some gig, running well over 10 minutes. However I don't speak French so I have no idea what they're talking about in between songs, but it's a real nice bonus. If you put the CD in the cd-rom drive of your computer you get some additional bonuses. Videoclips of four songs played live at the Obscene Extreme Festival 2003. And this is where you get to take part of the vocalists insanity. Remember I told you he was crazy? The first thing this guy does is knocking his head with the microphone several times, and so hard that he starts to bleed and the mic gets flattened. Then he moshes around like the most violent hooligan ever. It makes you wish you were there to see it! But wait, there are more bonuses! You also get to take part of a bunch of photographs, and a long thanks list - On which I am included! Thanks a lot, you guys rule!
Lyrics are included in the booklet. Intelligent lyrics about the existential questions of life. Not often grind/death bands has these types of lyrics, interesting. And amongst the lyrics are a lot of cool live photos, nice! It's not often you get a CD so packed with bonuses and cool stuff.
This is the fourth CD in Inhumate's series of seven, all with a theme. When the series is finished they will have worked through a humans life, from the time you're growing in your mothers stomach to the time of your death. Another interesting thing about this band.
This is an interesting and unique band. They give you everything they've got and they're truly dedicated to their cause of supporting the underground. It doesn't hurt that they kick ass either. I wish for more bands like this!
