Its really too bad the sound qualitys sort of half-arsed, cause that really weakens the end result of an otherwise quite powerful demo. In Contempt displays an impressive line of smart, slick riffs, which really builds up an atmosphere. The bass sound is below average as well as the drum sound. But dont get me wrong, theres certainly nothing wrong with the musicianship, its the thin production bringing it down. I appreciate the use of both gnarly screams and growls as well as the nerve to take things rather slow and not just blindly blasting. In the case of In Contempt the wicked riffing gets an even more prominent place in the music because of it.
Im not sure how to define their sound. My first thought was blackened death metal, but Im leaning more towards thrash/death-influenced black. No matter how you define it In Contempt kicks ass. The At the Gates cover is not the most exciting Ive heard, and it actually brings the impression of Introcide down a notch; simply cause an otherwise intriguing demo ends in a rather lame manner. I certainly hope their next output comes delivered with much better sound quality, cause I think they can be on a path to greatness.
