These songs were apparently supposed to be released ten years ago (hence the title), but were never recorded. After losing two members the band split up, even though they had been signed for two albums. Ive never heard of the band before, but boy am I glad they decided to re-unite.
A tearless lament is so incredibly solemn, each riff drips with sorrow and melancholy. The powerful vocals of Paul Leyden paints the picture of anguish and desperation to perfection via the gloomy lyrics. Shadows of old ghosts is one of the most somber records Ive ever heard. Listening to the melancholic riffing interact with the drums, accompanied by a keyboard and piano I get overwhelmed with emotion. The song structure and instrument interaction is done to perfection.
The CD is self-released, but if Graveyard Dirt dont get signed after this one I dont know whats wrong with the world. Its rare to encounter an album with such emotion. Its 34 minutes of gloom, and Im ever so thankful to Adrian (ex-Mourning Beloveth) for sending me this CD through his promotion agency Lugga Music.
