Ha, Death Vomit, what a name, and what artwork to go with it. The back is really cool, with a great way of incorporating the track titles with the artwork; as bloody writing on a hospital wall. This self-titled CD was originally released in 1993 by Metal Agen, but has now been re-released by Tunes of Torture.
I hadn’t heard of the band before, so it was all new to me. And what a raw old school thrashing death metal blast it is. I wouldn’t have doubted it if anyone had said that it was recorded ten years earlier to the original release, ‘cause it has such an unrelenting old school feeling. The production’s crude and harsh, and in a good way, which just enhances the brutal atmosphere. I wouldn’t be surprised if Venom stood for some influences here (although they don’t sound even close to eachother), in a sort of semi-simplistic, yet hard-hitting manner. The screeching, distorted riffing, the pummeling bass and the pounding drums – it all leads up to a seriously arse-shredding album, with the inevitable result of you, as a listener, stomping, headbanging and air-guitaring along.
Very energetic, spastic music, and with a brutal-as-hell vocalist. Fans of Throneum should definitely check this out.
