Well this was a nice surprise. I knew it was punk rock, but I didn’t know it was this ass kicking. A mighty impressive debut, managing to draw influences from all over the place, and creating seven tracks of seriously pissed off punk.
There are so many nuances to this. At times it feels a bit like Asta Kask, other like Cosa Nostra, adding a rawer and more brutal flavor of Kurt Olvars Rebeller via the harsh vocals. But they still manage to flirt a bit with classic Swedish trallpunk á la De Lyckliga Kompisarna and Räserbajs in some riffs, even Coca Carola comes to mind. And Terrorist reminds me a lot of Offspring. Hints of metal and hardcore also takes place. And eventhough this might sound like a mess, it really works.
Very sing along-friendly punk, political and pissed as hell, melodic and brutal at the same time, with a lot of variation, and most important (well almost, I suppose) it’s really energetic. Sounds a lot like a bunch of more obscure and underground bands from the early to mid nineties. But I certainly hope Civil Olydnad won’t remain purely underground and disappear again in a few years, ‘cause I really want to hear more from these young lads.
