Mathcore, you say? Well it’s a new term to me. Spastic grindish hardcore in the vein of Dillinger Escape Plan and Converge is how I’d describe it, so maybe mathcore is a simpler way of labelling this band, hehe. The band consists of guys from a number of acts, but the most famous ones are probably Collision, Inhume and Mangled. This is a three-track promo of their upcoming fullength, for which I think they’re still looking for a label.
As I said earlier this is definitely spastic, taking the chaos from Converge, adding the grindcore influences from Pig Destroyer and some metal from Cephalic Carnage. And from that description I think you can imagine what’s going on here - Tons of tempo changes and lots of variation. And to be completely honest I’m a bit fed up with all the bands out there mimicking Dillinger Escape Plan, but I can easily say Charlie*Adler’s here to stay. The intensity of the chaotic and energetic songs on here is all I need to hear to understand that this is a no-nonsense band, a force to be reckoned with. Powerful drumming and heavy string-work topped with a seriously raging vocalist. I don’t see how any fan of the genre couldn’t love this band. And I don’t see how a band like this can still be left without a contract.
However, after finishing this review I was informed that the full album will be released soon by Sixkiller Records, a label I've never heard of before. Be on the lookout!
